【摘要】:Chlorineisaddedtopotablewater,wastewater,andindustrialwaterforavarietyofpurposes.Someofthesepurposesare:5.1.1Toeliminateorreducethegrowthofmicroorganismsinwater,5.1.2Todestroyormodifydecomposableorganicsubstancessoastoreducethebiochemicaloxygendemandofthewater,5.1.3Toeliminateorreducetaste,odors,andcolorinthewater,5.1.4Toseparategreaseinwastewaterbyeliminatingtheprotectivecolloidaleffectofproteinspresent,and5.1.5Todestroyormodifysubstancesinthewastewaterthatreactdirectlybyoxidation,suchasammonia,cyanates,cyanides,ferrousiron,nitrites,phenol,phosphorus,sulfides,sulfites,thiocyanates,andotheroxidizableconstituents.Itisimportanttoavoidover-chlorinationinordertominimizechemicalconsumption,meetrestrictionsspecifiedbyregulatoryagencies,andminimizeequipmentdegradation.1.1Thispracticeprovidesameansofestimatingthequantityofchlorinerequiredtobeaddedtoaunitvolumeofwatertoaccomplishapredeterminedtreatmentobjectiveortocompletelyreactwithallchlorinereactablesubstancesinthewater,orboth.1.2Temperature,pH,andinitialchlorinedosageareallvariablesinestimatingtheoptimumchlorinationpractice.Theeffectsofthesevariablescanbeevaluatedusingthispractice.1.3ChlorineresidualisdeterminedusingTestMethodD1253.1.4Thispracticeisapplicabletoalltypesofwaterinwhichthestatedtreatmentobjectivecanbeevaluatedorresidualchlorinecanbemeasured,orboth.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.Foraspecifichazardstatement,seeNote1.
