【摘要】:ThistestmethodoffersanalternateproceduretoTestMethodC336fordeterminingtheannealingandstrainpointsofglass.Itisparticularlyrecommendedforglassesnotadaptabletoflameworking.Alsofewercorrectionsarenecessaryindatareduction.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationoftheannealingpointandthestrainpointofaglassbymeasuringtherateofmidpointviscousbendingofasimplyloadedglassbeam.However,attemperaturescorrespondingtotheannealingandstrainpoints,theviscosityofglassishighlytime-dependent.Hence,anyviscositiesthatmightbederivedorinferredfrommeasurementsbythisprocedurecannotbeassumedtorepresentequilibriumstructuralconditions.1.2TheannealingandstrainpointsshallbeobtainedfollowingaspecifiedprocedureafterdirectcalibrationoftheapparatususingbeamsofstandardglasseshavingknownannealingandstrainpointssuchasthosesuppliedandcertifiedbytheNationalInstituteofStandardsandTechnology.1.3Thistestmethod,asanalternativetoTestMethodC336isparticularlywellsuitedforglassesthatforonereasonoranotherarenotadaptableforflameworking.Italsohastheadvantagesthatthermalexpansionandeffectivelengthcorrections,commontothefiberelongationmethod,areeliminated.1.4Thevaluesstatedinmetricunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.1.5Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
